Airgun Accuracy

Only accurate airguns are interesting!

Field Target Rifles, Scopes and Pellets used at the 2017 World FT Championships

WFTC 2017 Wales LogoBelow is data that was kindly provided by the WFTC2017 website. Below I have tried to compare this new data to 2015 data from the world championships in Lithuania which is also on this website. Note that the data provided by the WFTC 2017 Wales organization is from the information that shooters gave when they registered in 2016 for the event in 2017. It may not be completely accurate compared to what was really used at the time of the championship.

Steyr is still the rifle that most shooters use and the JSB 8.4 grain pellet is still the favourite.

The news is that there some new rifles around: the LT Airguns MRFT from Argentina, the Anschutz 9015 and the Ataman M2/Daystate Tsar. A new rifle that is not in the list, but can be seen on pictures from the event is the Thomas Air rifle from the USA ( http://www.thomasrifles.com/ft-rifle.html ). I noticed at least two of these Thomas Air rifles.

For scopes Sightron has taken over the first position, with 33 % of the shooters using one, from Nikko Stirling with 21% of the shooters using this scope. The DEON March scopes are a strong third, with 15 percent of the shooters using a March scope. Kahles (2.5%) and IOR and the Vortex Golden Eagle are the new kids in town. But the list of scopes is long with many brands and types being used.

The choice of pellets is a little larger these days with newcomers like the H&N Sniper. But the majority  of shooters (56%) still use the JSB Exact 8.4 grain. The lighter JSB Express (2.5%) has lost its share to the JSB 10.34 grain Heavy (7%). Air Arms Field 8.4 grain adds another 17% of the shooters to the share of JSB manufactured 8.4 grain pellets. That makes the total shooters using JSB produced 8.4 grain pellets 73%.
